Norway Salary After Tax Calculator 2026
Estimate employee take-home pay with a country-specific breakdown of modeled income tax and statutory employee deductions. This calculator uses the effective-dated profile and assumptions shown below.
Current modeled profile: Standard employee · documented age branch · 2026 · Standard Mainland (annual-liability)
How this calculation works
Annual liability: estimates annual income-tax and statutory social liability from total annual employment income.
The calculator applies profile no-2026-standard-employee (version 2026.1), lists each modeled deduction separately, and subtracts those deductions from gross annual pay. Monthly and weekly values are annual estimates divided by 12 and 52.

What changed this tax year?
This page uses only the current, reviewed 2026 · Standard Mainland profile shown above. Formulexa does not silently reuse current rules for a previous-year comparison: a numerical year-over-year result will appear only after a separate archived profile and regression fixtures have been verified for this exact modeled scope.
Check the official sources below for enacted rule changes outside this calculator's documented assumptions and exclusions.
Assumptions
- Full-year mainland resident employee in tax class 1.
- Standard minimum deduction and personal allowance only.
- The selected official NI age-rate branch is used; the default is age 17–69.
Not included
- Troms/Finnmark action-zone rate, wealth tax, pension income, commuting and itemized deductions, PAYE scheme for foreign workers and self-employment are excluded.
Current rates and country-specific rules
- General income is modeled at 22% after the standard salary deduction and class-1 personal allowance.
- Bracket tax uses five progressive steps on personal income.
- National Insurance uses the selected official age rate and the statutory lower-limit cap formula.
Worked example
For NOK 700,000 annual salary, V1 first applies the 46% minimum deduction capped at NOK 92,000 and the NOK 108,550 personal allowance, then calculates ordinary-income tax, bracket tax and National Insurance as separate lines.
Frequently asked questions
Does this include the Troms and Finnmark action-zone rate?
No. V1 models the standard mainland 22% general-income rate and clearly excludes the action-zone branch.
Why is age requested?
The official salary National Insurance rate differs for people aged 17–69 and those under 17 or over 69.
