Estimate PAYE employment take-home pay using the accepted 2026/27 UK engine for England, Wales and Northern Ireland or Scotland.
Current modeled profile: England, Wales and Northern Ireland or Scotland · standard Class 1 employee · 2026/27
Profile scope
Effective 2026-04-06 through 2027-04-05; reviewed 2026-10-05. The model includes Income Tax and employee Class 1 Category A National Insurance for an employee below State Pension age.
Status: current
Assumptions and exclusions
- Standard employee estimate using the £12,570 Personal Allowance where applicable; individual tax-code adjustments are outside V1.
- Adjusted net income equals gross employment income (excludes pension salary sacrifice, Gift Aid, and outside income deductions).
- V1 models an employee below State Pension age who is liable for standard Class 1 Category A employee National Insurance.
- Student-loan deductions are optional and annualized from the official 2026/27 thresholds; employer pension contributions and specialized tax credits are not applied.
- Does not calculate employer National Insurance or Apprenticeship Levy.
- Does not model marriage allowance, blind person's allowance, or Scottish specific local rate variations.
- Real payroll applies National Insurance per pay-period rather than on an exact annualized basis.
- Employees at or above State Pension age normally stop paying employee Class 1 National Insurance; this V1 model applies Category A NI and is not appropriate for that case.
- Users with complex deductions should consult HMRC's official estimator or a qualified accountant.
Current rules modeled
- The personal allowance is tapered above the documented adjusted-net-income threshold.
- England, Wales and Northern Ireland use the main UK income-tax bands; Scotland uses its separate earned-income bands.
- Employee Class 1 Category A National Insurance is calculated separately from Income Tax.

Frequently asked questions
Is this an exact payslip calculation?
No. It is an annual estimate under the displayed profile; payroll timing, tax-code adjustments and excluded benefits can change an actual payslip.
Does the calculator support Scottish income tax?
Yes. Select Scotland in the calculator so the country adapter applies the documented Scottish earned-income bands.
